Senior FPGA / Hardware Development Engineer

Tasks

  • FPGA and system development
  • You are responsible for the development of system architectures for vision-based and embedded camera systems.
  • In addition to analyzing and selecting suitable key components for hardware platforms, you design backend interfaces for high-speed communication (e.g., Ethernet-based systems).
  • You contribute to the development and standardization of transmission protocols.
  • Your responsibilities also include the design and implementation of FPGA components, the development of high-performance video processing pipelines, and the optimization of data throughput and latency in existing systems.
  • Image processing and processing pipelines
  • You are responsible for implementing and integrating image processing algorithms on FPGA platforms, as well as integrating image compression technologies into vision systems.

Required qualifications

B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

Advantages

Requirements for the candidate

  • You have successfully completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a comparable field of study and bring several years of professional experience in this area.
  • 3–5 years of experience in electronic development
  • You have very strong knowledge of FPGA architectures and solid expertise in VHDL (and optional Verilog).
  • You have experience with FPGA development tools and version control systems (e.g., Quartus, Vivado, Efinity, ModelSim, Python scripting, unit tests, and Git), as well as knowledge of the FPGA market landscape and vendors.
  • You have sound knowledge of image and video processing.
  • You can read and understand schematics and support the creation of FPGA-based hardware designs.
  • You have basic knowledge of embedded software/firmware (C/C++); experience with industrial vision standards is an advantage.
  • You have a solid understanding of high-speed communication interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, USB, PCIe, or MIPI-CSI2).
  • You demonstrate a high willingness to learn and a strong interest in new technologies.
  • You work independently and in a solution-oriented manner.
  • You are a team player with excellent communication skills in English (German is an advantage).
